He was still a little sick but nothing like previous, he didn’t seem so uncomfortable all the time and I could lie him down half and hour after a feed where as before it was minimum an hour of keeping him upright. We went through every formula going, even prescribed ones and nothing worked until we tried cow and gate anti reflux formula and wow, he was like a new baby. The pp has mentioned carobel, we tried that and it made him choke. It was honestly hell and I actually regretted having him. Constantly changing formula to try and find one that helps, zero sleep and a baby constantly attached to me. We was at the doctors every week, constant washing, cleaning, change of clothes 3,4 or 5 times a day for me and baby. I don’t think we left the house for longer than an hour for the first 3 months. I honestly understand how miserable it is. Our gp wasn’t happy to prescribe anything stronger than gaviscon because he said most babies outgrow the reflux as they get older. My boy had terrible reflux and unfortunately for us it was just a waiting game and waiting for his digestive system to mature. I’m also concerned of the long term effects and whether this will prevent his development.Ĭan anyone help or have advice on the next step? Reflux is absolutely miserable 🙁 My body aches from it all, I feel mentally and physically drained. He is gaining weight, but I have to change him and myself at least 3 times a day, go through numerous Muslims and bibs, need to put towels on the floor and couch, and just so fed up with the constant cleaning, washing and holding (I know that may sound ungrateful and like I’m a rubbish mum). His formula was then changed to a prescribed milk, Nutramigen (foul tasting, bless him) and the ped prescribed ranitidine but im at my wits end because he’s still bringing the milk back up and is in discomfort. He was on gaviscon but it never really worked while on aptimal first.

He is in discomfort, cries, arches his back, goes red at times, can’t be put down on his back for ages after a feed, scrunches up his little body and just seems a bit miserable a lot of the time (apart from the morning where he seems a bit brighter). He is sick after each feed, sometimes even before the next feed (at this point it’s watery) and the vomit sometimes comes through his nose, making him choke and often leaves a thick mucus at back of throat/nose so he grunts and can’t breathe properly. Since he was discharged from hospital 2 weeks after he was born, my partner and I have had a really tough time with reflux. My son is 14 weeks (he was 7 weeks prem).

the best thing to do is to ring your Midwives and ask what best to do in your local area, or ring 111 where you may be able to access GP support in your area over the weekend.I know there are a lot of messages on here about reflux but haven’t seen an answer to my specific situation so I’m wondering if anyone can help! Its the weekend now, and most HV's don't work on Saturdays or Sundays. You will still be under the care of your Midwives perhaps, and you may of had the HV be in touch and arranged a time to come and visit you. She is very young and you are concerned, so that is good enough reason for someone to assess if all is well. I can see why this would worry youįrom what you have told us here I think it would be a good idea to get your LO checked over. You are worried as she has milk trickling from her nose for a while after her feeds, and she splutters and chokes. You have a 10 day old baby.Congratulations, I hope you are recovering well after your labour and birth
